Travel Health Windsor
At Travel Health Windsor, our specialized travel clinic offers comprehensive pre-travel health advice and assessment, including a range of recommended or required vaccines for patients planning international travel.
These vaccines are essential for protecting against potentially life-threatening illnesses caused by bacterial and viral infections commonly found in certain regions of the world. Examples of such diseases include yellow fever, hepatitis, encephalitis, typhoid fever, rabies, and meningitis.
Our medical staff is highly qualified and experienced in providing personalized vaccination schedules based on individual health needs and travel itineraries. They will conduct a comprehensive assessment of each traveller’s health risks and recommend the necessary vaccines, as well as any recommended medications to ensure maximum protection. Our staff is up-to-date with the latest travel health advisories and can provide personalized advice on how to stay healthy while travelling.
Our Process
Consultation, Scheduling and Costs
It is strongly advised that travelers request an appointment for a pre-travel consultation as soon as possible to allow our medical professionals sufficient time to develop and complete a personalized vaccination schedule before their departure date. It is important to note that most vaccines require a series of doses that can take several weeks to complete, and immunity protection can take up to 14 days after the final dose. Therefore, we recommend that travelers schedule an appointment with us at least two months prior to their planned travel dates to ensure adequate time for the vaccination schedule to be completed and for immunity protection to develop.
The cost of travel vaccines is not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Patients are responsible for covering the cost of any vaccines they receive during their appointment. Patients can review fees associated with our travel vaccines prior to arrival at the clinic in Windsor. Payment can be made using cash, debit, or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express), and a receipt will be provided to patients for their records. Patients may be eligible for reimbursement through their private medical insurance, and are encouraged to inquire with their insurance provider regarding their coverage.
